Get started

See the world clearly with global air quality data and imagery.

Detailed current and forecast air quality data is crucial for decision-making and planning. Take action on hourly forecasting down to the individual pollutant level, advise high-risk and sensitive groups, and improve general communications to protect safety and health. Leverage our portfolio of air quality-centric tools to build or improve your weather integrations.

Access to Xweather air quality endpoints and mapping layers begins with a subscription to Xweather Flex (the Xweather API and Raster Maps plan), or MapsGL (our vector weather mapping plan). All air quality endpoints and layers have a 5x access multiplier. Multipliers will be noted in the data endpoint and mapping layer repositories in our documentation.

Air Quality Index

Get Air Quality Index information from two of our endpoints based on your needs and location: The air-quality/index endpoint provides global AQI data in the context of US AirNow formulas, while the air-quality endpoint will return globalized variations of AQI calculations.

Air Quality Health Index

The Air Quality Health Index (AQHI), developed by Environment Canada, measures the health risk associated with exposure to common air pollutants, such as particulate matter, ozone, nitrogen dioxide, and sulfur dioxide, using a scale from 1 (low risk) to 10+ (very high risk). AQHI is especially valuable in making health-critical decisions for at-risk groups.

Air quality forecasts

Return up to 4 days — or 72 hours — of air quality forecast data for locations globally to advise on risks and plan air quality-sensitive operations and activities accordingly. Forecast datasets include AQI, AQHI, category, dominant pollutant, and primary pollutant information.

MapsGL layers

Customize your air quality visualizations to your heart's content with our MapsGL SDK and weather data layers. MapsGL enables smooth, stunning animations and flexible color schemes and iconography to create robust full-scale pictures of global air quality indices, categories, pollutant layers, and forecasting.

Air quality demo

See our air quality mapping layers in action with our robust (free!) demo application, built to highlight air quality pollutants in stunning detail.

Raster layers

Create, modify, and filter with our raster air quality layers to obtain your perfect air quality visualizations. The flexibility provided by our library of air quality weather layers means weather imagery is personalized down to the individual pollutants of concern or regional AQI calculation of interest.
